TGA News: Consultation on Changes to the Permissible Ingredients Determination

Low-medium risk changes

The TGA is consulting on proposed changes to the Permissible Ingredients Determination. The purpose of this consultation is to provide an opportunity for consumers, health professionals, industry and other interested parties to comment on these proposed changes which are due to commence on 2 March 2020.

Submissions are due by 11 October 2019.

Changes are being proposed for:

  • Boron
  • Withania somnifera
  • Vitex agnus-castus
  • Hydroxyisohexyl-3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde

Medium to high risk changes

In addition, the TGA has made changes to the regulation of caffeine in listed medicines. Some of these changes will have immediate effect and others will come into place on 2 March 2020. Further information about these changes can be found here.
