Yesterday the Federal Court ordered that Peptide Clinics Australia (Peptide Clinics Pty Ltd) pay $10 million to the Commonwealth for breaches of the mandatory rules for advertising of medicines, including the ban on advertising prescription-only medicines to the public. This is the first time in almost a decade that the TGA has taken court action against a sponsor. It’s a timely reminder that the TGA’s updated powers are extensive and that the TGA will use them.
